    Jamaica’s Paradox

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of our 100-meter sprinters !

The paradox is that at this Carifta Games where our field events athletes are finally stepping up to the plate, our 100-meter sprinters are being whipped across the board by Trinidadians, Bahamians, and even a Grand Caymanian!

It seems that the incredible performances by Usain Bolt, Shelly-Ann Fraser, Melaine Walker, and the others at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and again in 2009 in Berlin have not only galvanized Jamaica’s high school sprinters to greater heights, but also those teens from elsewhere in the Caribbean region as well.

Our best sprinters are not there...think Dexter Lee, Murphy and even the Jason kid who went to William Knibb who is at UTech now are still juniors and should ne 3/4 of our sprint relay team at WJC
