    1977: Jamaica

    1982: Jamaica
    1983: Martinique
    1984: Bahamas

Okay! Clearly, in 1975, the Oil Crisis prevented many countries from sending athletes to the Hamilton Games so the home team won easily. Winning time in the Boys U-19 100m final? 12.39 seconds.

Now, what could have happened between 1979 and 1984? Clearly, some money must have been passed as Jamaica was asked to send fourth tier athletes to make the games appear competitive. Since then, even our 4th string athletes hve been kicking ass!

    Martinique in 1983?!?

When the others won, it was all home team advantage.

Even dat cant work anymore as we B team still can crush any other.

Jam Carifta team is still the real dream team.

Strictly speaking, not true. The visa regime for all Jamaicans has been in place for several years now and was not imposed just for the 2010 Carifta Games.

While I, too, am angry that the stars of the Carifta Games over the past many decades and the greatest crowd pullers are subject to this silly Cayman Islands visa situation, the reality is that no country withdraws visas for sports athletes. Nevertheless, having said this, where is the respect for the region’s greatest junior athletes?!

Excellent points, Willi, and you are absolutely correct!

However, in the “new Jamaica” (actually, in Carifta Games track and field meets since 1984), home turf makes no difference for any island (LMAO)!! Turks & Caicos Islands in 2007 is a perfect example, as the Turks & Caicos Islands, despite hosting the games that year, won zero medals (lol).

                    Carifta Swimming

By the way, the Carifta Games swim meet will be held in Jamaica at the same time as the track and field meet in Grand Cayman.

Carifta need to come up with some new rules in order to make it a real competition. Perhaps every four years we need to make it the top 3 from the previous year versus the rest of Carifta.

Time boss, you know what’s really funny about the annual Carifta Games track and field results? Check the results for recent history and you’ll find that each year, Jamaica’s gold medal tally is more than the total medals of any other Carifta country ! Now that is really amusing!

T&T broke the rule in 2008. Ja got 29 gold medals but T&T got 30 medal in total.
