  • Baseball field for Trelawny Stadium

Baseball field to be constructed at Trelawny stadium Thursday, 04 March 2010
    Trelawny multi-purpose stadium.
Plans to construct a baseball field at the Trelawny multi-purpose stadium will be fast-tracked after Major League Baseball (MLB) offered to assist the government.

st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) }This was disclosed on Thursday after discussions between Sport Minister Olivia Grange and MLB's manager of international baseball operations for Latin America Renaldo Peralta.

A section of this multi-faceted plan indicated a site for baseball which could be implemented before the laying of a 400-metre Mundo track.

Peralto, who is also trying to identify talented youngsters for teams in North America, says he will be looking for athletes with some speed.

This sound like another dream type think. If they are paying, hosting tournaments or hosting Spring Break, no problem. Otherwise, back to the drawing board.

          Bad Decision

"Build It And They Will Come" ....from the movie "Field Of Dreams"

It worked in Iowa, but not in Jamaica.

and backward, I am sure MLS is not thinking that Jamaica will become a world power in baseball any time soon, to my mind having heard a few interviews, they are looking for players with speed and athleticism and if they get one more Devon White in the next 20 years they will be happy with the investment

Speaking of Devon White, what a great fielder he was. The man would catch the ball even if it was going in the stands. He would often strike out with some cricket looking strokes.

Many people don't know that Chili Davis was actually the first Jamaican and not White in the MLB. Davis also had a pretty good career.

What a big waste. Baseball will never become a popular sport in a country that has been playing cricket from nineteen-how-long. Babsy a skin har teet like seh she frighten. They need to lay down a running track there and put a football field......bout baseball......(kiss teet).

Yes Glen 'Chilli' Davis had a long a distinguished career with the Twins and I recall the last time he was an All-star the Jamaican flag was flown in the stadium along with all the other nations represented

It would be a waste of money to put a track there who is going to use it, if they cant find use for it now why add to it...plus the configurations of the cricket stadium does not lend itself to an eight lane 400m running track
