  • Well the Championship is over

The USA has topped the medal tables, but all the talk is about the Jamaican performances with Usain Bolt as the star. Now we go back home to celebrate and to pick at the bones. As one commentator said, our love affair with track and field along with our performances at this Championship should give the next generation of athletes enough motivation to carry our flag high. The JAAA is an integral part of our future development, as well as our coaches. This Championship has exposed the many shortcomings of the JAAA, and it is imperative that as a governing body, they need to grow with the sport. The sport has evolved from the ametuer status, and today, athletes are earning millions of dollars per year. This is more than any "volunteer" working within the JAAA will ever make. They need to become more professional in the organisation. We cannot allow the disorganisation, lack of communication, and over inflated egos to wipe away what we have achieved over the past two years.
