  • Moderators: A Question!

Moderators, why was the thread “Man Wins Women’s 800-m” allowed to remain and not deleted as yet? Or is it that anything goes around here?

Trust me, if I was a moderator that thread would have been gone so quickly people would wonder what happened! It is the most distasteful discussion I’ve ever seen on this forum in a long while, and I am disappointed in the lack of sensitivity shown here. I’m not sure if any of the enthusiastic participants here have fully grasped what it’s like for an 18-year-old to have her gender being questioned on a stage as prominent as the IAAF World Championships. Nowhere in all the comments was this acknowledged even in passing!

Suppose she had been your child? And how do we know the gender of this athlete when test results have not yet been revealed?

As far as I’m concerned, this youngster had been competing successfully at junior championships prior to 2009. Why wasn’t the issue raised before now? This is a disgrace on the IAAF and the South Africans, in my opinion, and I just hope that this teen survives the sh!t that she is being put through at this time!

Am I angry? You bet that I am!

    Couldn't agree more!

    Already done!

It's one thing for forumites to say whatever in the body of the post, but I agree with you about that subject heading.

Fine line still, as we do not like editing other's posts and we encourage free thought and expression. However...!

When you're right you're right. We can be unintentially cruel sometimes. You not right all the time but some a de time LOL. It is a curious case though.

Historian, Thanks for keeping it real. I for one, apologize openly to the young lady for any disparaging comment or remark I made about her or her name. keep on running your race.

BTW I heard an interview on BBC radio this morning with a S.African radio announcer who said her (Caster's) Mom whose name I believe is Dorcas, looks just like her so for them (the S Africans) they do not see why all the controversy.

I wish her well and to keep strong!

But you bright! The IAAF is infallible for many here and cant make any mistakes so if they continue to perpetuate this tragedy and sham against this child.

So I see you deleted my post as well, the one where I stated facts that there are other young South African athletes who attract attention because of their 'different' physical appearances?
