KINGSTON — It’s now official. The remaining four athletes, Yohan Blake, Marvin Anderson, Lansford Spence and Allodin Fothergill, who had their cases heard on Friday, have been cleared of doping related charges, as first reported by TrackAlerts.com on Saturday.

Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) Disciplinary Panel, which is chaired by Kent Gammon and assisted by Bert Cameron and Dr Winston Isles, met on Saturday to review the argument put to them by the athletes’ lawyers.

The panel, according to Gammon could not find anything to charge.

"We weren’t able to determine conclusively that the drugs that was found as a prohibited substance was not on the WADA prohibited list and therefore we have not found any of the athletes in violation of the code," said Gammon.


The name of the drug is 4-Methyl-2-hexanamine.

JADCO appeals decision to free Jamaican athletes

Kingston – Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) has appealed the decision by the country’s Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel to free four Jamaican athletes who returned Adverse Analytical Findings (AFF) at the National trials.

According to JADCO’s release, “all four athletes were found with 4-mehtly-2 hexanamine in their urine samples which was reported as an adverse analytical finding by the WADA accredited laboratory in montreal.

“This substance is considered by WADA as being of similar chemical structure to tuaminoheptane which is listed as an example of a stimulant in the WADA 2009 prohibited list international standard.

“In light of the decision of the disciplinary panel JADCO will enforce its rights by virtue of section 21 of the anti-doping in sport act, 2008 and appeal the decision,” the release concluded.


The case will now goes to the the members of JADCO’s appeals committee. The committe is Professor E Nigel Harris (chairman), Horace Gray, Michael Deans, Maurice Foster, Allie McNabb and Raphael Codling.
