"Bolt mania" at the Meeting AREVA
Usain Bolt and Jamaica at the Stade de France on 17th July 2009
On 17th July, it'll be party-time at the Stade de France! After all, it's not everyday that you play host to the world's top athletes and, in particular, a certain Usain Bolt who knows as much about creating a party spirit as he does about setting records. The organisers know only too well that these great occasions must be shared, both for the enjoyment of the spectators as well as making it an unforgettable moment for the athletes.
How will it work?
Jamaica will be the focus of all the entertainment proposed this year: the colors, the music... everything will be in place to pay special homage to the country where athletics is king. However, it will also be an opportunity to put on a display of top level athletics to a wide audience, so it is important the public are able to "decipher" the various disciplines and be offered explanations about what's happening in the stadium so that it is accessible to all.
The entertainment on offer:
In and around the Stade de France
Before spectators have even found their seats, they can enjoy some entertainment organized in and around the Stadium the minute they arrive. Notably this includes two Jamaican Villages (one on each side of the Stadium) provided by the sports gear manufacturer and partner to both the Meeting and to Usain Bolt - PUMA - a village where you are offered the chance to run against the fastest man in the world - at the end of the aptly named "speed trap" test (between 17:30 and 19:00). 8 or 9 winners will be retained to run a 100m on the Stade de France track - the whole thing judged by Mr Usain BOLT in person! There will also be a Jamaican market to taste the "local" smoothies and a "flash/photo" measuring your speed in front of a blue screen, culminating with each participant being in a photofinish with Usain Bolt!
On the Field
Sound from DJ ZEBRA*
An unclassifiable artist, he plays all the musical styles by daring the improbable, mixing rock with rap, soul with techno, and reggae with pop.
For this performance, he will be accompanied by a "sound system style" MC featuring Dynamike in person who presents the broadcast "Métissages" on Couleur 3 (Swiss radio).
* Director and host of the broadcast "Zebramix" on Virgin Radio and Virgin 17, formerly on Ouï FM (2003-2007), and regular contributor to Laurent Lavige on France Inter, he is one of the media drivers behind the bootleg revival (or mash-up) in France. Its classics are "Joey Starr Wars" (Joey Starr vs. John Williams), "Soul desir" (Aretha Franklin vs. Noir desir), "Killing boombastic" (Shaggy vs. R.A.T.M.), and the inescapable "J'adore mon daddy" (Katerine vs. Boney M).
