Apology for the "Accuse" Remark
Yep, I realize that you didn’t accuse, and I apologize for using that word.
These posts are bringing back so much memories! Zhanna Pintusevich is a nice girl, although I felt it for her at that IAAF World Championships (was it 2001?? I’m not sure) when she thought that she had won the 100-meter dash and started celebrating, even doing a victory lap, only to find out that Marion Jones had won! I felt badly for Zhanna at that event.
In Nesterenko’s case, yes, it was so very obvious that she was not running naturally!! My goodness, how could an 11-plenty seconds sprinter suddenly end up in her next races (the Olympic Games) running 10-plus rounds so easily!! I for one was happy that she failed to move out of the semi-finals last year (a year when, interestingly, major drug tests – blood tests – were being done).
But even before Beijing, Nesterenko was already failing as she came dead last in the finals of the 100-meter dash at the 2005 IAAF World Championships (Helsinki)!!
