Derby
West Indies 203 (D E Bernard 58, C R Woakes 6-43) v England Lions
143-6
A hostile burst from Jerome Taylor gave West Indies a timely boost in their final warm-up match ahead of next week's first Test.
The Jamaican, whose arrival was delayed by a hip injury, returned to action in devastating form, picking up three wickets in his first 12 balls to put the Lions on the back foot at 13-3.
The hosts recovered to reach 143-6 at the close in reply to the tourists 203 all out on a day restricted to 68 overs by rain.
Taylor produced a fast, swinging delivery to remove Rob Key lbw and then Stephen Moore fended off a short ball to second slip before Jonathan Trott drove at a wide delivery and was caught behind.
Ian Bell, though, looked comfortable at the crease once he overcame a steady start which included a leading edge through gully.
He and Samit Patel steadied the ship before Bell appeared unfortunate to be given out leg before to David Bernard, ending a 44-run partnership.
Patel seemed on course for a big knock but skied a pull to the deep having also made 27.
Only one more wicket fell between rain breaks - that of Luke Wright for four, bowled by Bernard - as Tim Ambrose made a battling 49 not out to ensure the Lions did not face total capitulation.
Earlier, Warwickshire's Chris Woakes had added two more wickets to the four he took on day one, finishing with career-best figures of 6-43.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul (21) and Brendon Nash (20) both fell to the seamer but Bernard added a useful 58 from 85 balls before falling lbw to leg-spinner Adil Rashid shortly after lunch.
