  • Champs people .I spoke with an

Individual that said champs has improved , how so I asked dont they still buy men ? the response was not on the level that they used to do , because all the schools are now High school and they arent willing to let them go that easy in the hopes of bussing the next Olympic star.e.g Murphy at Bridgebort a couple years ago he would be at Cbar or KC.

The theory sounds valid , whats your take , BTW what an improvement ..lol

I don't know about "improved". Champs has been good for a long time. In terms of performances, records being broken, I don't believe this was one of the better ones.

We have to look on the down side of not moving Murphy as well.

Is he getting good coaching? As a single star at that school , is he been overworked?

Will Murphy get a chance to go to Penn?

Staying at a "small" school have its disadvantages as well. I only hope we can develop better programs in more schools.

I would say the improvement (and by this I assume you mean more competitive and overall even higher quality performances than before) is due more to a much wider availablility of trained and excellent coaches in the island. GC Foster has played a major role in this area over the last 20 years.

I am not sure what the rules on recruiting from another high school are these days, but the practice it definiately is not what it was back in the day for a few reasons including the one stated in your friends theory. I remember that there were restrictions put in place many years ago after the C'bar/Earl Laing incident (I think he was at Georges and transferred to C'bar a few months before Champs? Maybe the older Champs heads like Willi would remember the details)

It is undoubtedly more competitive as seen in the performances , but its good to see Track Stars from the non traditional schools e.g Bridgebort Bussing out.

I wouldnt worry about the coaching , because I am sure the non traditional High school will do all in its power to attain the best for its sole star, besides GC foster has thrown its net all over the Island.

Penn is just one meet in a dozen , granted it would be an injustice but it wont kill his carrear.

The bigger question was answered already how did he do at Champs .

I disagree that it is more competitive.

Champs has improved leaps and bounds from the 80s, yes, but over the last 10 years or so, it's the same high quality, competitive Champs. Don't be swayed by the media that is capitalising on Beijing.

              Champs great from lang time!

Well Laing was in my form at StGC, so I can confirm 100%.

His schoolwork was below par and Father was gonna repeat him in 4th form. Bar said they would take him in 5th and lavish lots of stuff on him, so he went. Straight shopping in my books.

Happened all over the place. But some are in denial.

I wonder what Laing is up to now?!?
