Give us vision lest we perish

A long time ago, I suggested that ISSA and the likes market the Boys & Girls champs in such a way that they offer a package, air, hotel, & tickets to Champs. Fly in on the Thursday, tek in Friday & Saturday. Sunday do some sightseeing and fly out on Monday. They could even include RT transfer from/to airport.

But baddaz all what you have stated is all the more vision to alternate it out west, all off those brilliant suggestions is feasible in Montego bay except they dont have a stadium.Isnt it sports tourism ?

It can be done and it should be done.

de main ting iz de history and de athmosphere... move it and it will be diluted to is own peril... it would be morphed into something other than what has made it successful... yuh know how many upcoming athletes train fi de oppty fi run a stadium... that is a motivation in itself...

with the revenues, issa SHOULD be doing more to offset the cost that the schools incur to send their athletes, especially the rural schools... a fund should be established for that particular purpose...

adidas, pumas, nike should be making financial contributions towards sponsoring the event... if they are currently contributing, the requirement should be more next year...

champs is the biggest track meet in the world outside the olympics... the world just don't know about it... a competent marketing visionary could make the world know about it and want to attend...

However, Champs is the most exciting T&F meet in the world, bar none!

Not sure about the seating idea. They did that in the past and it caused problems. I remember some orange wars where the fruits were hurled as missiles into the other school's area. The following year, they moved the second placed team to the other side of the bleachers, and alternated the other schools as such. The other thing is, there are many more schools attending the co-ed Champs these days and so it would be very difficult to assign seats.

I think what is happening now works. Schools sit where they are comfortable. Calabar occupies Little Grand Stand across from the KC supporters and they taunt each other by unfurling giant flags that travel up and down the seats.

Good to not see any Swastika flags this year! But we can do with the hooligan acts that take place around Half-Way-Tree and other areas before (and after, to some extent) Champs. We don't need to copy everything they do in Europe.

They probably said that when they joined Girls and Boys Champs together. I think if Mobay had the facilities, Champs would remain Champs, i.e., the best T&F meet in the world!

As one who called for no "fix" to champs I can see where we could take the phenomenon and make it that much better. Promote it: "Biggest little track meet in the world"

My tag line is tongue in cheek... many do not realize how big it is as stated by Colin Jackson. I was watching some of the videos on youtube and the crowd is as entertaining a sight/phenomenon as the on-field action.
