I was thinking that it can't be the salary cap why the NFL is so unpredictable. Other sports have cap but none is like the NFL.

All the big team them get mash down. Is it that football is an unpredictable game or players just get beaten down after a season or two?

MLB you can go over the salary cap. Usually the poorer teams do the worst unless they have a great farm system.

The salary cap works in the NFL, and if it was not for the salary cap small market teams like the Steelers & the Titans could not be competitive. As you know teams can get upset at anytime on the field. I don't think the results last weekend were related to the salary cap, but were due to team defense and execution on the field.

I find myself actually rooting for the Eagles for the first time...their story is simply amazing, they had to win on the last day against the Cowboys who were also seeking a place in the play-offs and for two teams heavily favoured had to lose as well.

It would be hard to root against them after what they have done the last three weeks...

especially as Mcnabb seemed to be on his way out. He was even dropped by Any Reid at one stage. They seemed like a team going nowhere. No wide receivers, a bang up back and a aging QB, and then they came to life.

I am a fan of McNabb and I would like him to win a Super Bowl, and I was also a fan of Randall Cunningham when he was a star for the Eagles. A black quarterback has not won the Super Bowl since Doug Williams of the Red Skins and the time is now!

Not only does the NFL have a salary cap, but all local revenues, such as broadcasting and merchandise sales are thrown into the same pot and divided among the teams.

The NFL also has a weighted schedule depending on how the teams finish. Aside from the six games a team will play in its own division, the weaker the finish, the weaker the schedule next year.
