! This was probably just a typo by X, although to be honest, of all of Jamaica's athletes, Melaine Walker's first name is probably the one that has suffered the most from incorrect spelling (so many people insist on spelling it "Melanie," including local print media people who should know better).
Seriously though, a few years back I had reached a stage of utter frustration with the written massacring of the names of some of Jamaica's athletes, and so I posted a list of corrections for the most abused names on the Caribbean Track and Field Forum.
I can't recall that list now, but included among my posted correction of Jamaican athletes' mispelt names were:
Melaine Walker
Brigitte Foster
Tayna Lawrence

brigitte is the continental european spelling...as in bardot and nielsen. it is ponounced bri-geeta
