WITH a bittersweet 2008 season where he struggled with injuries; lost his 100m world record; finished fifth in the Olympic final; anchored Jamaica's 4x100m team to gold and clocked a world record 15 sub-10 times, Asafa Powell has vowed to return with a bang in 2009.
"This year I was out for five months. I did surgery on my shoulder, so I basically made the team with
one hand and went to the Olympics not 100
per cent.
"But I still did well, so next season I just want to go through the season with no injuries and it will be a different ball game in Germany," Powell said with reference to the 12th IAAF World Championships to be staged in Berlin from August 15-23 next year.
