    Cyan say too much still this has been a mind blowing, wonderful and incredible Olympics which we may not match again in a long, long time, who knows, this may be an aberration or is this a sign of things to come, I lean with the first of course. I have been watching the medal count hard and thinking, yes this is our champs we can win this outright the most Golds if we can get to eight, well with our women dropping the baton we miss out on a one in a millenium chance for little Ja to win the T&F portion of the Olympics and the worst race to lose it in was the womens 4*1 as the winner turned out to be Russia who gained a gold on us while we missed out. US and russia stand to gain probably at least one or two more gold, with the women's 4*1 gold we would have been at 7 with possibly the 4*4 as a potential 8th. anyway as I said cyan be upset this was a dream Olympics but it was our one chance to take the number one position we will probably end up at #3.

      I'm not in the least bit concerned about the ranking of Jamaica on the medals table! What bothers me, and will be bothering me for many months to come, is that it was possible for our women to smash that 4x100-meter relay record, and we messed up!

      That Jamaican 4x100-meter women's relay team is without question the fastest we've ever assembled, and on Beijing's fast track, that old East German world record could have been blown away! Yes, the men's world record performance sort of made up for the women's disaster, but that women's failure is still hurting me, and it will for a long, long time! We should have successfully defended our 2004 Olympic title, but we blew that chance!

        I am truly surprised you feel that way especially as your moniker is HISTORIAN, we had a chance to make history in a way we probably may never get another chance to, however I do agree with you that this is without a doubt the fastest team we have ever had.

        I would run this 4*100 team as soon as I get another chance in the next few weeks to see if they can get that record which has been standing for a while, even if it mean we set up a one race meet and run ja b team and say one or two of the high school boys team as well in the race. I know that sounds rad but you got to strike when the sun is shining bright.

          Like I said, I'm not terribly concerned about the rankings. My main concern is that four girls who deserved an Olympic Games gold medal didn't receive those medals because of their messed up baton passing. But the chances will not be the same as it was yesterday for two reasons:
          (a) that track in China is an extremely fast one (the claim is that it's the fastest in the world);
          (b) the vibes and atmosphere at an Olympic Games cannot be reproduced at any other meet at this time! The moral high for Jamaican athletes, who were clearly feeding off the success of each other, was extremely great in the Bird's Nest (high for all the athletes, that is, except for the men's 4x400-meter relay team, who were clearly in their own world elsewhere).

          We missed a glorious opportunity to get that women's 4x100-meter record, and the sooner we accept that the better.
