Well who is preparing Asafa and the MVP athletes even as we speak?

Who was preparing Asafa and the MVP athletes all these years before these Olympics?

Do you think the athletes are now in tip-top condition...or do you expect them to be working on reaching that tip-top condition?

    Mental preparation?
At this stage if these professional athletes are not mentally prepared to "do their thing" they will never be for these Olympic races.

btw - You may have noticed that all the fuss has been created by Franno...who incidentally is the coach of some of our rivals. Did I hear you say,

Can I say...I am asking you...Talk sense man?!

Asafa, Bolt and Veronica and the rest of OUR athletes shall 'do their thing' and make us all proud! They all will make good money after these games...some making more than others!

Franno has just engaged in some serious self promotion... Is it of the good type? Regardless if it is or not, he has put himself and his athletes smack at the forefront of the consciousness of those who would be providing those endorsements and sponsorships and as he has vested interest in those MVP athletes he shall make what some would call "a bag"...as indeed he deserves!
The sprinters are n tapering mode now. Witness how Asafa's time dropping like stone! And the JAAA wants to farq with that???

Come on man, this is madness. They need every edge they can get, medical, nutritional, mental, psychological and physical. It may take 9.7s to win.

We all know the JAAAs are not preventing the athetes from "having access" to their coaches. It is not being done...and in today's world it could not be done!

btw - Have any of Franno's charges competed at a high level without him sitting there holding their hands?

Let me answer for you - a big fat YES!
      They did it last year.

Paul Francis was not given accreditation in Osaka...only Stephen!

Do you understand the money at stake between Puma and Nike and Adidas over who wins the 100m races?

Now Mills does not seem corruptible, but the conflict is there! X is completely correct.

These show companies play for keeps...always up to dirty trix.

Damn, their way or the highway??/ Which athletes did they bring to world class level? Show me their 10 athletes.

        Steeeuuupss.
JAAA is not all bad, but they certainly can throw needless spanners in the works.

Bruce James needs to ban Franno from talking to the Press. He is lousy at PR!

To put Jam first is to ensure max performance and holding a forced camp so soon in smog-filled Beijing is the definition of DUMB!

As to the Kgn Invit, I would have boycotted too. They pay the yankee athletes and expect the Jakan athletes to run for free. WTF??? Emancipate yourself from MENTAL SLAVERY... (not you actually, but the Kgn Invit organizers).
I appreciate and respect all your points.

I know that the sport is professional... in my opinion neither side to this disagreement is being professional in their approach.. which should be what's best for the country and the athletes.

The Olympics is a time to put aside petty differences and silly egomania. I'm no expert on team management nor have any insider knowledge apart from what's in the public domain.. and no time to communicate with sources I have to acquire the inside story... or their version.
But... nor do I have any axe to grind or favored party in this matter... except Jamaica's interest.

Francis clearly should be part of the coaching brain trust at the games and have a direct input in handling his athletes down to actual race time.. why this is not so is due to lack of maturity and leadership on both sides.

You underestimate the 'charge' being a part of a team brings. That knowing that your team depends on you often produces PBs at these meets.

...and your statement on "no team drills and strategies" suggests Francis and all the other coaches left out of the Jamacia Olympic TEAM party (Yup! The coaches are a part of the TEAM) do not have access to and do not plan strategies with their charges. Such a suggestion would be false.

Any coach or any other person the athlete would like to contact or the athlete would like to be contacted by...as fact cannot be 'blocked'. In
today's world that would be impossible. ...and from a managing
standpoint for the JAAAs to go out of their way to attempt 'blocking' it would be crazy as the JAAAs would be attempting the impossible. One just do not attempt to enforce what is not enforceable! That would be madness.

The coach deals with the athlete on an individual basis. What he plans with Asafa is not applicable to BFH or even Frater in the same event.

If its just a rah-rah for Jamaica, that charge could be had by meeting up 3 days before the Olys start. You dont need to disrupt training for 2 weeks for that.

Contacting athletes by email or cell phone is not serious, Karl. The coach needs to be there to watch the drills, correct minor flaws in form, ensure they eat properly and sleep enuff. It is hands on.

Finally, Franno has Trini and Bajan charges. What is he to do with them if he is in a Jakan camp locked away? Is the JAAA flexible to allow DB and Hinds and Kim Collins in our camp (provided they pay their own way?).

This is serious professional business now. People's livelihood depend on this.

                Name the coaches?

                Name who is overseeing whom?

Then we'll check past and current work with athletes!

                  Willi: just asking?
Is Maurice Wilson a world class coach?

Just to be an idea on why you think Franno is that much better than these guys!
