Is there any process that could include Vernica Campbell_Brown to run in the 100m..

You mean without it being at the expense of another JA athlete? In the Olympics, no. In the World Champs she would have had a guaranteed spot as the defending champ.

In terms of taking the place of another JA athlete, it is possible but unlikely. The rules are that the first 2 finishers are guaranteed a spot, the third is negotiable.

I doubt that the loophole will be used this time because she was beaten fair and square, ie she did not have a bad race.

I think the JAAAs have the right to switch her with that 3rd place runner (not too sure on that?)...

...but I do know that if any of those before her for some reason cannot 'run' and if a certain prescribed IAAF (is it Olympic's IOC?) date has not gone by she can be inserted.

It would be unfair to even consider it.

ok I am asking out of ignorance as I dont follow track till the olympics starts.. Are the 1, 2, and 3 place finishers genuinely better than her or was it just that day?

given the times it would seem so HOWEVER if you recall we went through a similar situation before with merlene ottey in 2000 and it wasn't pretty....

The baton has to more than pass round. It better be efficiently done!
