  • UWI vs UTECH

With UTECH being the clear leader and an invaluable driver in Jamaican track and field - with the so called IAAF High Performance Center (more properly know as their back field/goat pasture) and training ground for so many world rated athletes .... UWI is jealous at being left behind in sporting matters.

    Solution:

Partner with JFF in developing Jamaica's premier football academy - instantly becoming the center of football development for the country

competition can be a good thing

I see UWI now running ads about having the fastest man in the world. Competition is indeed good.

Right now, the two of them put together don't add up to a good sporting facility.

The plans for UWI are grand. I do hope they pull it off, but I am not hopeful. I am yet to see such grand plans being implemented in anything we do.

History is not in UWI's favour to pull it off, either. They have tried sharing the massive grounds with August Town FC, the community and another entity that I can't recall right now, and they have not been the greatest partnerships.

Anyway, while not being hopeful about the grand master plan, I do hope the academy and training centre, or whatever it's going to be called, becomes a reality soon.

You have to admit that the opportunity was there...and the UWI stepped right in...

Now...if only the parties make it work?????
