LIGHTNING ... Jamaican star Usmain Bolt breaks the world 100 metres record in New York
USAIN BOLT lived up to his ‘lightning’ nickname by becoming the fastest man in the world last month.
The Jamaican sprinter claimed a world record time of 9.72 seconds in the 100 metres at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York.
He will be the man to beat when the Olympics start in Beijing in August but the 21-year-old says his main focus is on winning gold in the 200m.
Speaking exclusively to SunSport, Bolt said: “It feels good to be the fastest man on the planet – it’s a great honour for me.
“But it’s more important for me to be an Olympic gold medallist so I’m keeping cool and looking forward to the Olympics.
“It was a great feeling, I’m really happy with myself.”
