How much you want to bet that Gay is going to PR or near-PR in the 100m at the Olympics?

He may be first, second or third, that is up to Bolt and Powell, but Gay will run better than 9.90.

My point is that we are so talented that we can underperform and still do well.

mmmm? Take a look at the race below that "inf" posted on Willi's T&F site?

I, for one, would not believe it if I did not see this post! It is mind- ing!
Out of this world! The man ran 40 M then 'shutdown' for that time?

Dont be so quick to write off Asafa, he ran 9.74s last year shutting down 10m from the finish.

      If you doubt, see here:

Easy as Sunday morning. Look at the videos carefully

Powell can realistically run 9.6x with greater than a +1.0ms wind this year. Cant say I didnt warn you...

Now, Bolt can probably do the same...so its near impossible to separate them at this point.

      I can only

Before last year, Gay flopped in major Champs...either not making the teams or fading out of the medals. He is older than Asafa by 3 months, so where was he in 2004?

        Everybody is cherry picking here.

Possible...but I think highly improbable that he brakes 9.80!

btw - Nesta Carter showed me (There was a race I saw over the week-end. On YouTube...I think? ) that his only position on our relay team must be as starter! He cannot hold his initial burst of speed through 100M...and he is an excellent starter.

We should have Bolt run the 2nd leg..taking the baton nearest to the beginning of his box...and delivering it to the 3rd leg guy at the outgoing end of his box. Bolt should run the longest possible distance...pretty close to 120M.

Yes, that is truly amazing. Looks like he could have run 9.60 or better. Just goes to show what can happen if he has his head straight.

So when he goes and runs 9.90+ in the final and gets a bronze, I am disapointed even though a bronze at the world level is outstanding by any measure.

We came second in the 100m at the worlds. The last time, it took doped up Gatlin to beat Frater. The other time, with Raymond Stewart, I forgot who won, but it might have been a similar scenario.

And in the mean time countries that have won the World/Olympic 100m or 4x100m include:

                    Russia (1972) T&T (1976) Great Britain (1980 and 1992) Canada (1984)

some of these with people who have Jamaican genes.

So we can either conclude that everyone in the world except Jamaicans running in our national colors are drugged up, or we have an underperformance problem.
