Former commish still serving the people

THOMAS
As a civil servant, he served his country for over 30 years and, despite being retired, former police commissioner, Lucius Thomas, has single-handedly taken on a community project to help young people and make the Ewarton community in St Catherine a crime-free zone.
"One way of doing this is to get the community involved in sports. I am in the process of reviving sporting activities in Ewarton and 13 other communities," Thomas said.
Reopening the centre
He is scheduled to meet with the residents tonight at a mass meeting which will be held at the Ewarton sporting complex.
"This complex has been idle for the past three years and we intend to make use of it again," Thomas told The Gleaner yesterday.
The complex was closed following an ugly incident in which five persons were shot and killed by a lone gunman who opened fire on spectators. Among the victims were a six-year-old boy, Zidan Linton, Maurice O'Gilvie, 22, Marlon Duncan, 23, and Glenford Harrison, 29.
The alleged killer, known at the time only as 'Eddie', was killed by a security guard who was at the Corner League football finals.
