  • SA in the driver's seat

Windies now 75/2 with Ganga and Samuels at the crease. Windies still 6 or so runs behind after SA's first inning of 321 all out in response to the Windies first knock of 243.

Gayle is just stiffed up from too much standing but I hope he'll be Ok tomorow. That is, of course, if the batsmen can hold out. They don't need to go after the runs right now; stickability is what we need for the rest of today and tomorrow. We only have 7 wickets remaining to set a decent score. SA has practically 2 plus days to chip away at us. Here's hoping that Samuels and Chanderpaul will put up the required resistance.

I agree...now if only the selectors would spring a surprise and recall Lawson as backup for the next test match.

The Windies threatening to fall back into old habits... losing wickets at crucial stages!

Dillon!!! That was the most honourable thing he could do...walk away into the sunset over the horizon, like a true retired cowboy would!

                    Stumps !!!
                    96/4
                    Chanderpaul 8, Gayle 1.
                    Lead 18 runs.

Gayle and Chanderpaul need a partnership of at least 150 tomorrow. The batsmen to come (Bravo, Lewis, Taylor, Powell and Edwards) liklely will give us a further combined 50 runs. Hopefully we can end up with a lead of close to 250 runs. Then, hoping for devine intervention, a shower of rain can kill at least one session of play. We'll then have a chance to make a game of it, and hopefully pull off a draw for this 2nd teast match.

Well, Jeff Dujon says he thinks a target of 230 batting last in this pitch might be challenging. Right now the WI are 233/9 with a lead of 155 or so...

This kind of game is what makes Test cricket survive against its more entertaining and shorter alternatives.

Well whatever the total I hope the team comes out firing! I can remember Michael Holding, Andy Roberts and company at times having small totals to defend and although some of those matches were lost no opposition got to the target comfortably!

No opposition could tek dis ting (i.e. getting a win against the then Windies!) fi joke!
