It was Jamaica's first limited-overs title since 1999 and brought a rousing climax to the first West Indies tournament under lights.
Two sensational catches and a brilliant run out by Shawn Findlay were the highlights for Jamaica, while fast bowler Jerome Taylor bowled with pace and accuracy to take three for 37. Off-spinner Chris Gayle took three for 32.
"It was brilliant night for Jamaica cricket and we are delighted as a team to come here and win the title," said Taylor, who won the man-of-the-match award.
"We were well set-up by the batsmen and then I just had to go out there and bowl my heart out.
"There was no reason to hold back. This was the final and we had to let it all out."
Winning means you're willing to go longer, work harder, and give more than anyone else - Vince Lombardi
Saw most of the game. Think we are eons away from world class cricket except for sm brillinat moments in the field and sm inpried bowling from Jamaica. Yes - Gayle should be able to silence his critics. His captaincy was good and the Jamaica team effort commendable - all wins fairly comfortably. We still see 'batters' trying to play non-cricketing shots and getting out - what's with that??
Yes...and it's all good when you succeed with it..but if your side is struggling and you need to stay there....well they need to practice the shots. Don't know if you ever saw Rohan Kanhai batting - he had one - only he played...literally ending up on his back....but he always got a boundary.
