Just reading the Observer article today and seeing de Oliveria's comments on the game, it started me thinking. The paragraph is from our TD:-

"We have been talking to the players about sometimes Onandi (Lowe) holding the ball extra and also our midfield needs to feed him more and we worked on that during the week. Andy (Williams) and Theodore (Whitmore) need to feed our strikers more," he said. "

My thought is, can anyone figure out why Dwight Yorke seem to be able to score at will while playing with Manchester United, but seem so out of his game here in the Hex? The answer is, he has some of the best midfielders in the game to provide him service.

We talk about our strikers not delivering the goods, but how can they when our midfield is not saying "one"? Who except our coach can ignore the fact that Whitmore and Andy are not really cutting it, and both should not be starting every game? It is also obvious that our beloved Fitzroy Simpson has also lost quite a few steps and is not the player he was a four years ago.

The question is, where do we go from here? Should we promote Keith Kelly to the senior team? Should Micah Hyde be starting? Should we go for Powell in defensive midfield, than having Simpson giving a half effort?

There are many questions to be answered.

Well about Dwight Yorke and his success at ManU. Yorke is the 3rd stirker on the team. Plus he has the greatest midfield general in football today at is disposal. When he plays for TNT, he doesnt get that. I hear everyone syaing TnT is great on paper. There the best in the caribbean. I'm having trouble seeing this. The have no defense Whatsoever. Hopefully Jamaica roar back into contention with a 6-nil drubbing at Tnt's expense.

As for Kelly, i dont think he's ready. Everyone calling fi him but i think he need more work. He has great skills, but has no physical presence. When i watch him play he is knocked off the ball easily by defenders.

But i do think the midfield needs a shake-up.

Iley bless

Tilla, did you notice our midfield was hardly including in this game? All those long kick ball up and down the field by pass the midfield position. It goes both ways..the team needs to include the midfield to take care of distribution as well. We did not play our game, instead we play to Costa Rica's tempo. We need to keep the ball on the ground more and make some responsible passes. Try to dictate the tempo of our game and not allow our opponents to do it for us. Midfield needs to feel including, help dem build their confidence as part of the team. Take charge.

Who is there to play midfield for us? We had one promising youngster recently who had the right mind frame but just needed some polish and we have effectively relegated him to the bench.(Jermaine Johnson)

Did anyone notice how Andy stepped up his game when he felt threatened by Jermaine? Where is Milton "Bonnie" Griffiths? I am not saying that he is our savior but Tilla can you agree that these players at least deserve a look in the camps?

I mean if we can play St Catherine 11 all the damn time the least we can do is give these players a run.

respect
