October 2001 (Teamtalk) -- The Nigerian Super Eagles are due back in England next month to play another friendly, hopefully with the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica in London. If the Nigerian Football Association’s marketing consultants are to be believed, then The Eagles, who played Japan in Southampton earlier this month, will pit their wits against Clovis de Oliveria’s inconsistent team.
A lacklustre performance against the Japanese ended in a 2-2 draw earlier this month but that game nearly did not happen because of a row involving bonuses.
But Mike Itemuagbor, chief executive of Pamodzi, the marketing consultants of the FA, said in Lagos that arrangements has been concluded with the Jamaican football authorities for the friendly game between the two nations, hopefully to be played at Queens Park Rangers' Loftus Road ground in London on November 7.
He told the Sports Vanguard: "I met with Jamaican FA representatives in England recently and we have agreed to have the game played on November 7. I have the documents ready so it is going to happen."
Jamaica is another new name to come out of the hat of Nigerian football authorities as they search for sparring partners for the team ahead of the African Nations Cup.
Australia, Senegal, Cameroon have also been mentioned in the past few days in regards to being possible opponents for Nigeria as they not only gear up for the Nations Cup, but for the World Cup next summer.
If the game with the Reggae Boyz does take place, there will be no Finidi George or Austin Okocha, who are both nursing serious injuries and sidelined for several weeks for Ipswich and Paris Saint Germain respectively.
But coach Shuaibu Amodu, who is expected to embark on a tour of Europe, could even persuade Milan's Taribo West to make an appearance.
