Taken from the Guardian.

One of Jamaica’s leading lottery companies has committed US$550,000 over 18 months in an incentive scheme for the players during the remainder of CONCACAF qualification for the FIFA World Cup Germany 2006.

For every win, players can pocket US $2,000, for every draw, players can take away US$1,000 each. No money will be paid for a defeat. This will amount to around US$40,000-a-match in bonus money for the Reggae Boyz.

The incentive scheme commences from the team’s next qualifying match against Panama at the National Stadium on Saturday.

Jamaica Football Federation President Crenston Boxhill praised the lottery for its swift response to appeal from Prime Minister PJ Patterson for private sector support for the Reggae Boyz’s World Cup campaign.

Jamaica opening the semifinal round with a 1-1 draw at home against the United States on August 18. Following the match against Panama, the Boyz journey to San Salvador to face El Salvador next Wednesday. On October 10, they visit Panama for a return match then host El Salvador before travelling to the United States on November 17. The top two teams in each of the three CONCACAF semifinal groups advance to the final round of qualification that automatically qualifies the top three finishers to the FIFA World Cup finals in Germany in 2006.
A fourth CONCACAF spot will be filled by a playoff between the fourth-place finisher in the Confederation and a qualifying hopeful from the Asian Confederation.
