PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) -- Jamaican clubs, Portmore United and Arnett Gardens, are slated to face Dutch Caribbean opposition when play starts in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup Caribbean Football Union (CFU) qualifiers in November.
In the two-leg series, November 5 and 12, reigning Jamaica champions, Portmore United, will tackle CS Barber of the Netherlands Antilles, and Arnett face Jong Colombia, also of the Netherlands Antilles.
Seven teams will compete for a berth in the 2004 CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Six of the seven CFU clubs will compete in the opening round while San Juan Jabloteh, of Trinidad & Tobago, have earned a bye into the semifinals.
First phase match-ups will have Jong Colombia of the Netherlands Antilles taking on Arnett Gardens FC of Jamaica, while Jamaica's Portmore United tackle CS Barber, also of the Netherlands Antilles.
Completing the opening round of fixtures will be FCS Nacional of Suriname, meeting Trinidad & Tobago's W Connection FC.
The three opening round winners will join San Juan Jabloteh in the two-game semifinal series, set for November 26 and December 3, 2003.
The two winners of the semi-finals will battle for the CFU's berth to the 2004 Champions Cup.
The remaining 2004 breakdown of teams for the Champions Cup will feature two clubs each from Mexico and USA along with three clubs qualifying from Union Centroamericana de Fútbol (UNCAF) Championship later this year.
