FIRST HALF
0:00 Jamaica kick-off. Lose the ball quickly to Paraguay who managed to string together several passes. Paraguay looks very good early.
2:10 Good cross from Johnson, but no one there to capitalise.
3:24 Williams overdoes his dribble when he should have squared to a supporting Whitmore.
5:28 Whitmore picks up ball, passes to Williams then to Gardner, whose shot is blocked by the goalie from Paraguay.
6:40 Whitmore looking good, engineering several attacking plays from midfield.
8:44 Good build-up finishes with Whitmore to Williams, but his shot from top of penalty area is blocked.
9:05 Ziadie breaks up a series of Paraguayan attacks.
10:40 GOAL: Williams fed with pass from Gardner on the left. His left footed shot is blocked but falls in the path of Byfield who makes no mistake from close. 1-0 Jamaica.
12:42 Paraguay pressures, putting together numerous passes, and running strongly.
14:50 Yellow card to Ruben Maldonado.
16:00 Langley to Gardner, whose rocket from 25 yards is pushed away by the goalie.
17:30 Marshall switches ball from right back across the length of the field to Gardner, who finds Andy, but his square inside the penalty area is too long for Langley.
20:01 Good combination from Marshall to Ziadie to Byfield, but Paraguay clears for a corner.
23:50 Reggae Boyz beginning to look stagnant. Not much movement or penetration. Content to hold ball in own half for long periods.
27:14 GOAL: Good combination again in midfield: Williams to Lawrence to Byfield who plays ball out to onrushing Langley who finishes with a one time shot. 2-0 Jamaica.
28:15 Byfield feeds Langley whose shot goes a little high.
29:55 Andy fouled after good pass from Whitmore. His free kick from 25 yards out is pushed over the bar.
31:24 Davis makes excellent tackle to break up a very dangerous
counter-attack as Paraguayan forward broke towards goal.
32:45 Early sub for Paraguay as Bareiro goes off for Jacinto Zorrilla
36:00 Jamaica again holding the ball for long periods, content to pass it around the back among defenders and midfielders.
37:45 Victor Hugo Ortiz gets a header which he directs towards the penalty area, but no support is there and Rickets calmly collects after a high bounce.
38:50 Williams to Gardner on a long pass, but the latter is erroneously judged as offside.
39:57 Swerving shot from 30 yards out from Jorge Nunez is gathered safely by Ricketts.
42:15 Williams and Whitmore combine for several flair moves and passes. Williams stands on ball, freezing defence for split second before sending Whitmore through towards goal, but Paraguay defence held firm.
46:20 Diego Gavilan yellow carded.
47:15 End of first half. Reggae Boyz take an impressive 2-0 score into the locker room.
SECOND HALF
Paraguay brings on Edgar Gonzales and Walter Avalos. Diego Gavilan comes off and an unknown player.
2:00 Paraguay pressing from the kickoff. They seem to be pressuring the ball higher up to counter the Boyz’ habit of passing around in their half.
4:35 Dangerous floating freekick by Paraguay headed safely away by Marshall.
7:50 Red card for Paraguay goalkeeper, Jasto Villar, who runs 20 yards from his goal to violently push away Byfield from a small scuffle, then attempting to appear as a mediator. Villar replaced by second string goalie, name unknown.
14:27 Rodrigo Mendoza yellow carded.
15:51 Walter Fretes replaces Mendoza.
17:50 Nice combination between Gardner and Byfield but the latter’s left foot shot from close range but a difficult angle goes straight to the keeper.
19:15 Gardner breaks in a rare Reggae Boyz counter attack but holds ball too long instead of passing to Langley.
21:00 Another threatening Paraguay attack is broken up as Ziadie clears.
23:07 Another hard shot by Gardner is blocked from outside the area.
26:40 Ziadie clears for a corner. Marshall clears resulting kick with a powerful header.
28:46 Coach Brown makes 4 changes: Daley for Langley, O’Nandi Lowe for Williams as muffled boos ring out. McDonald on for Davis and Taylor on for Gardner.
31:27 Marshall breaks up another good Paraguay attack.
31:45 Angel Ortiz takes a powerful shot to goal, but it was blocked.
34:41 Rocket from Daley brings a long rebound off goalie, but nobody there to capitalize.
35:14 Ziadie off, Neil on. Big cheers.
39:27 Ortiz finished a good build-up with a shot at goal, but this too is blocked.
40:43 Whitmore is sent through one on one with goalie, but weak shot calmly bounces off post and goalie gathers. Should have been 3-0.
45:29 One-two combination between Daley and Lowe sends Daley through on goalkeeper, but he is shrugged off by a defender. Could have been 4-0.
47:12 Yellow card to Michael Johnson for late tackle.
47:40 Direct shot to goal from a freekick is bobbled by Ricketts, who quickly gets a good hold the second time around.
48:23 Thunderous side volley from Lowe goes high.
48:43 End of game. Jamaica 2, Paraguay 0.
