Jawge, Balla, Tilla, Karl, Mexx, HL, OJ, & and others,

The Carl Brown/Onandi and West vs East Baller arguments are no longer being productive. By simply looking at the archived posts, the same arguments are being repeated over and over. There is also a lot of circular reasoning. All of you make good points and shaky points. And then a few get frustrated that others are opposed and entrenched. So you let the frustration get out in many ways.

Fact: You are all good people.

Fact: CB benefited from Onandi's insubordination and incitement but may not have condoned it and may even have had misgivings about it, even though it helped him. Whether or not Carl saw it was wrong at the time and knew he was benefiting from something wrong at the time, does not mean that he cant come out and expect better now. Can he not be allowed to grow as a person too and a manager too? Maybe now he realizes that is not the way to do things. Or maybe he felt that was the wrong way all along. It is never too late to start doing things the right way.

Fact: The best of modern poiticians and modern leaders are Macchiavellian at some point in their leadership. That does not condemn them forever. No one is perfect. We all make missteps. the wiser among us will seek not to repeat those mis-steps.

Fact: Carl Brown was responding to direct questions posed to him about Onandi. He did not seek to engage Onandi in a public dialogue.

Fact: The report makes it appear that Carl should be speaking to Onandi directly. Carl probably will, especially since the wide circulation and feedback from the report.

Fact: Onandi Lowe genuinely loves to represent his country.

Fact: Onandi has had serious discipline problems in the past. He needs to show that he is maturing as a person, player, and a former and possible future national captain.

Fact: Onandi Lowe has inspired and disciplined youth teams in the past. He can do the same for the national team, if properly motivated. This motivation can be self derived, derived from Carl Brown and Others, or derived from reading reports such as the one in contention.

Fact: Post-High School soccer is not as organized in the west as is Pre-High School Soccer.

Fact: Post High-School Soccer in the South Central and Southeastern areas is more organized than in the west.

Fact: Many Post-High school players especially in the west, have a hard time finding meaningful employment near their team bases.

Fact: Jamaica is many years away from a fully professional league which will provide compensation on par with middle and upper middle class jobs in Jamaica. Athletes must be taught from early on that academic success is the only future they should absolutely rely on.

Fact: For all JFF's faults, the resources just are not there to support all the national teams that Jamaica needs to support.

Fact: The economy in Jamaica is terrible. The PSOJ and members currently give a lot to many and are struggling to keep salaries and compensation at reasonable levels. They often have more important life-saving causes to support than football.

Fact: As much as we support the Captain and the JFF, they have alot of old baggage to overcome to win over the hearts of Jamaicans.

Fact: If all premier level teams got involved in regular community and school projects, football would be supported a lot better.

Fact: The JFF, Sports Ministry, Ministry of Education and others have yet to really take anything major and meaningful from the years of debates among all of you. For instance, over two years ago, and throughout last year, it was suggested that a comprehensive focus be placed at the entrance level to high school, and throughout high school. This would make PE more important and more beneficial.

A larger and smarter talent pool would be developed so the technical and professional levels of the game would be better. Summer leagues could piggy-back. Require an ever increasing level of competence from high school coaches and PE teachers. Establish skill sets to be developed for all entering high school students throughout their years in high school. When they finish school, they should have the physical skills, fitness, knowledge of tactics, sports medicine, professionalism, etc. They should understand the game is as much academic as physical. This should not be limited to just those players who represent their schools. JFF scouts should teach ISSA coaches how to perform peer grading and assessments throughout. Lots more.

Fact: For football to really get bigger in Ja, it must be improved in all our high schools, not just the ones with alums represented here. When almost any school can win the DaCosta or Manning Cups and all the other competitions, we will improve.

Fact: Very few of our coaches are professionals who are degreed. I think that is the reason why Dean Weatherly has been so successful. He brings professionalism and organization that few others bring to the game.

Fact: The more trained professionals we have playing ball, the more disciplined the approach to the sport will become.

Much more, but for now, May God Bless You All.

What you say karl is true. if lowe concentrates on playing team, his wonderful effect will be maximised. However, it was reported earlier in the season that he was concentrating on playing team than just being a goal machine. this is good news for the boyz.
if we are to make it to the world cup, lowe and fuller will have to form the back bone of the team.
Lowe carried the team on his shoulders in the last qualifying campaign to the final round and did jamaica proud.
he has that aura that will give the team a lift.
he is the most confident forward in the region.

Thanks, Yaga!

You (and any other of the Massive) also can post material that you believe will help our football.

I believe you may be right about Lowe's value to the Reggae Boyz in 2006 ...but, that value would be maximized if he plays TEAM.

I do not think TD Carl Brown acted unprofessionally in speaking to the press as he did as I think his reference to Lowe's committment speaks to "attitude towards game, teammates, tech staff and national team".

Karl, very informative post.
lets hope carl brown clears this mess up as he is the cause of it.
lowe will be a very integral part of jamaica`s program for 2006.
mr. brown dealt with things unprofessionally so lets he he sort things out and take responsibility.
if he had called lowe and he refused to show up, he should report it to fifa to have him banned if there was no legitimate reason.
lets hope it is sorted out quickly.
there has been no REPORTED INCIDENT of indiscipline from lowe over the past 4 years.
