Posted - Jun 07 2002 : 5:29:43 PM As you all may know our beloved island was lashed with some heavy rains over the past two “strongs” and many of our brothers and sisters have been terribly affected. Many public infrastructure, live stock and agricultural produce have been destroyed. A formal appeal has been made via the Jamaica Consulate in NY for assistance for our beloved island and her inhabitants.
Kind hearted people who are willing and able are being asked to donate clothes, bed lining, canned food, agricultural products, monetary donations (made payable to the Jamaican Consulate- memo flood victims) and any other useful item that you can afford to donate.
A number of shipping agents in the NYC area have made pledges to ship the donations to Jamaica free of charge and will also serve as a drop off point. A number of those agents are:
Deans Overseas Shippers 2171 Merrick Boulevard Laurelton, NY Contact: Sharon Deans 718-525-3375
Dennis Shipping 1124 – 28 Utica Avenue Brooklyn, NY Contact: Dennis Hawthorne 718-451-3617
Trans Continental Shipping 118-40 Montauk Street St Albans, NY 11412 718-341-2900

and the Jamaica Consulate General 767 Third Avenue New York, NY 10017 212-935-9000
Please stretch forth a helping hand to your brothers and sisters and country in their time of need.
Much love and raspek to those who participated in the Portland effort earlier. Your deeds have been noted and have gone a long way.

Blessed Love
