Republic of Ireland They have an inner-belief, quality and nothing to lose. You must be good to qualify ahead of Holland but without Roy Keane I don't give them a big chance.
At least the other Keane, Robbie, is still in Japan. He is outstanding. Cameroon This team will be the surprise of the World Cup and their German manager, Winfried Schafer, will have them organised and ensure their discipline is good. You could call them the Germans of Africa.
Other African teams have more flair, but Cameroon have power. They are more solid, more reliable and can survive in major competitions as they proved in the Olympic Games and African Cup of Nations. Watch out for striker Samuel Eto'o, who is their big star.
********** Mexxx Edit 10 star rating : Eto and Diouf didnt produce the goals but when I saw the FLAIR, kiss me Ra$$, me start big dem up********** Germany Not one of the favourites, but it is dangerous to write them off. Goalkeeper Oliver Kahn was the No1 in Europe last year and they will always have that winning mentality. They are not in Japan just to do their best - they are there to win. Given a chance they will grab it. Saudi Arabia Good technical ability, but not enough power for this level. Lack the strength in depth to produce anything more than the occasional surprise result.

Posted - May 30 2002 : 11:44:11 AM Teams chasing Eto EXCITING striker Samuel Eto'o has all the attributes to be one of the stars of the World Cup. The Real Mallorca star is a tricky customer with great skill and pace and when in front of goal is a cool finisher. The 21-year-old joined Mallorca only last summer as the club's record signing at £5 million after two seasons on loan at San Moix from Real Madrid. The African ace was never given the chance to impress at Madrid, but he has proved his undoubted potential at Mallorca. The jet-heeled front-man won a permanent move to Mallorca after helping them to Champions League qualification last season with 11 goals. Eto'o holds the prestigious record of being the youngest player to play in France 98 and he has helped The Indomitable Lions to successive African Cup of Nations triumphs and the Olympic gold in Sydney 2000. Eto'o was voted African Young Player of the Year in 2001 and came third in the senior prize this year. His partnership with Patrick Mboma will be crucial to Cameroon's chances of progressing in the tournament.
