A person who knows not
And knows not that they know not
Is foolish- disregard them

A person who knows not
And knows that they know not
Is simple- teach them

A person who knows not
And believe that they know
Is dangerous- avoid them

A person who knows
And knows that they know
Is wise- follow them

All of these persons reside in you
Know thy self
And to Maat be true

Just thought I would provoke some thought based on our different positions on the Zimbabwe situation. Even the wisest of us act on emotions a lot instead of rational deductive reasoning. Step back a little and assess the situation, why is the whole world vomiting while the Zimbabweans are hardly even coughing? Does it seem right? could by any stretch of the imagination something be wrong here? Ok so it wasn’t a free and fair election (lets say that for a minute) which one really is? Is Mugabe really such a tyrant that the whole world must pause their daily duties to focus on unseating him? What is his crime or crimes, conducting an unfair election? This seem so much to me like when Saddam decided that the majority of the income from the sale of oil will go toward developing his country- into an already great educational and health care system. But no, big brother of the world stand to lose too much if that is so. You must continue to use it to buy our main export- weapons.

Do think gentle people! Robert is not necessarily the villain they are making him out to be, why side with them based on their evidence without even hearing Robert’s or the people of Zimbabwe? After all the other Africans that we heard from did say everything went well. I am aware that it is reported that a certain church group in Zimbabwe think there was foul play, but my question is are they the only people that spoke on the matter? Oh, they are the only people that had something negative to say aren’t they?

Iyah don’t we see that “they” want us to have nothing? They didn’t want us to leave when Garvey was arranging our repatriation. They undermined him and now firestone occupies the land we should have been living on in Liberia (no wonder they face so much trouble lately). And now “they” are trying their best to stop us regaining our own land in our own country. Can we win?
I & I love all people as long as they are not a hindrance to our ancestral teachings and growth. Right now I see people trying very hard to hinder I from making any move at all and they are fast gaining the support of I own kin.

Remember slavery? Same way it happened “they” got us to side with them and then sell them our brothers and sisters. They are making us believing that they are good and there is nothing evil about their intentions- stink of the devil if you ask me. His greatest success was to make people think he doesn’t exist.

Wake up and rally behind Robert, Africa and the black race.

Long Live Shorty!!#2

Blessed Love

"Zimbabwe needs a people united in the common cause of improving conditions in the country. Sure there will be disagreements but... the focus must be on the way forward."

Let us not 'fight'. If you believe! You believe!

Truth be told I do not know what the situation is in Zimbabwe. I am not there. What I do read, is in the main - Mugabe is a monster. What I do know it is the same press that painted Michael Manley a monster...and I know that was a lie.

What I do know is the ranting of what Laro so vivided painted in his song "foreign press" is the same thing happening to Zimbabwe. What I do know it is this same press that told us in the 50s and 60s that people living in communist countries were barbarians. That Castro was the devil incarnate... Yes! It is the same press that once extolled the warmth and friendliness of the Shah of Iran, The dictator AUGUSTO PINOCHE and many others. It helped to prop up the Ian Smith regime in Rhodesia. It was for a long time against Nelson Mandella. I could go on to the 'convenient' downing of the aircraft with Patrice Lumumba.... and unending list.

When the African observers say the elections were fair...and the agents of oppression saw they were the most terrible elections ever.... even worst than the blatant robbery that occurred in Florida... then, I must pause and ponder the reasons why the campaign is "Mugabe must go".

What 'profits' those who are not on the side of black rights...are seeking?

Notice! - This same press speaks daily of the "terrorist" Palestinians...with nary a word of the "terrorist" Israelis. Not a word on the systemic rooting out of a people from their homes. No a word about the bombs that blast the Palestines... but, screams about the bombs that blast the Israelis. Would not fairness demand that both "terrorists" actions be equally denounced?

I believe it is on this board that & keeps saying - Past action is a prediction of future action. It would not surprise me in the least if Mugabe was murdered...aided and abetted by the belief "our own brothers".

Let's face it...the subversive actions of the '70s and '80s have spawned the lawlessness that still runs wild in Jamaica. The seeds of 'hate' - Jamaican against Jamaican is alive and well a yaaard. I hope the people of Zimbabwe recognise that the serpent will forked tongue is up to its old tricks.

Zimbabwe needs a people united in the common cause of improving conditions in the country. Sure there will be disagreements but... the focus must be on the way forward.

I suggest you step back a little. "White press" was used to convey more than the colour of skin. It meant among other things the elements that stand to prosper by keeping the people of Zimbabwe in their current state on not fully exploiting the God given resourses.

Is it so hard to understand that the control of the resources of Zimbabwe under total control of the 'natives' would not be paletable to those who once 'were in charge' and their 'surrogates'?

Is it not evident that if one previously subjugate country became an economic case success...where all services were available such as in say Canada...and standards of living move towards or surpasssed that of the current "developed" countries certain interests would not be pleased?

There was such a fear that little Jamaica would have seen the dawn of a new era and the CIA unleashed an attack, supported by some of our own Jamaicans, and destablised the country. In a real sense the CIA caused murders of hundreds of Jamaicans by putting "brother against brother". There was a sustained of disinformation in my country. It is only recently that the true picture is being told.

You could not be so naive or for one moment believe we are not aware "disinformation," and "misinformation" and the shenanigans of those who would like to keep us continually their 'subjects'.

Let those who would condemn Mugabe show that they have the interest of Zimbabwe as paramount by supporting the countries efforts at improvement. Their announced intention of isolation and worst is not aimed solely at Mugabe. That policy is aimed at bringing suffering on te people. It is an aim to cater to the baser instints of man....man who when suffering, will turn on their very mothers and fathers...as did some of the Jews turn on their own people while hoping to buy favours from the heinous Nazi oppressors.

This proposed imposition of sanctions is nothing more than an attempt to turn "brother against brother", to destablise and eventually return the former colonizers and their puppets as rulers of Zimbabwe. We know, both you and I, that the years of a white dominated Rhodesia is lives in the minds of some and there is a movement to return the country to those "good old days", albeit by subterfudge, covert and overt destablising actions.

WHY DO NOT THESE 'LOVERS' OF ZIMBABWE and THE ZIMBABWE PEOPLE HELP TO BUILD THE COUNTRY? Are they but wolves in sheep clothing?

Karl

Karl,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Mugabe has been in power for 20 years. When he took over the country was in better shape than say Mozambique, where the Portuguese poured cement down the drains and removed every lightbulb before they left.
I will take your advice and step back. I will step back and smell the roses and have a Stripe. Please enlighten me - who are the elements who stand to prosper by keeping the people in Zimbabwe in their current state? Is the labour movement in Zimbabwe part of these elements?
I understand when you say that native Zimbabwean control of resources would not be palatable to some. However, I think if Mugabe is successful in eliminating his opposition, and his policies are successful, international business interests and the IMF will have a greater say in Zimbabwe a few years from now than Zimbabweans themselves. His policies will force Zimbabwe to go cap in hand begging from these white dominated institutions.
For a previously subjugate country to become an economic success, there has to be the rule of law and civility in its relations with all members of that society. The present chaos in Zimbabwe and Mugabe's ultimate goal of trying to impose a one party state creates highly mitigating circumstances for social development and provision of social services.

I lived through that period you are talking about in Jamaica. I understand perfectly where you are coming from in the context of Jamaica. Joshua was not trying to hang onto power by all means necessary. Joshua respected the ballot box. It was not perfect, but it worked. Mugabe is no Joshua. Mugabe is the one sponsoring most of the killing. He is not the only guilty one.
Believe me, I am aware of disinformation and misinformation. Sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference between the two. There may be those who would like to keep us their subjects, however my experience with most white people is that they want to make money and they really don't care about black people or Africa.
We would not be having this correspondence if we did not both care about Zimbabwe. I just don't believe Mugabe is the man. I don't believe the situation will improve under him. The sanctions will not remove Mugabe, it will help to cement his rule. Only Zimbabweans can remove Mugabe, unfortunately there will be much more suffering before that happens.

My friend Karl,
I guess you believe that what Mugabe is doing is the best thing for Zimbabwe?
I guess you believe that everything in the press is a lie if it is printed by a white person?
I guess you believe that the Mugabe controlled press and TV in Zimbabwe tell only the truth?
I guess you believe that Britain has some secret plan to take over Zimbabwe and re-establish colonial rule.
I base my opinions on talking to Zimbabweans who have fled. Yes, I do read the "white press." I also read the "black press," I also see what the crisis in Zimbabwe is doing to neighbouring countries. I also know where Mugabe is coming from, and he is merely reverting to form after 22 years in power. Mugabe is power hungry and will not leave quietly. He has turned his army and police into thugs for his party. Easy to beat up people who really can't fight back. His land reform policy is politics by other means, and a way to eliminate his critics. You don't have to read the "white press" to discern this. Oppression is oppression, no matter the colour of the skin.

I admire your faith in Mr. Mugabe and the excuses youare willing to make for him. Just because he fought for Zimbabwean independence gives him the right to rig elections and not leave gracefully. Mr. Mugabe will turn Zimbabwe into a basketcase, destroy its economy, and set up a one party state. Maybe that is okay with you, but oppression is oppression, no matter who it is coming from. Just make sure you are first in line to donate to the coming disaster there.

I wonder why you are so quick to accept the messages from the manipulated "white press".

Causes one to pause, doesn't it? Here's wishing Brother Robert Mugabe all the best...and his people the victory!
